Girls Night/Avery

Nothing much has really been going on since my last post. I've begun my meetings for student teaching and got in contact with my cooperating teacher. She seems really sweet and I can't wait to meet her and the students and begin this journey. But before the semester begins, I had to get together will my girls from school and have a girls night. I always love being around these girls! If it wasn't for them I don't know how I would've made it through my semesters at Texas State. They make everyday so enjoyable, fun, and full of group texts and inside jokes. I will miss them during student teaching, but we will be making girls night a regular thing, I'm sure. Here are a few pics from our girls night.

Nancy, Jessica, Elizabeth, Lindsey, and Me!

OMG HOW CAN I FORGET!?!?! Wills niece was born this week!! ekkkkk
Her name is Avery Elise Roberts, she was born January 7th 8 lbs & 7 ounces. She is a BEAUTIFUL (understatement) baby... I am so excited to meet her. I don't have any babies in my family. I have a small family and I am the oldest and I don't plan on having kids any time soon, so as you can see I'm SUPER excited! Avery, Samantha (momma), and Nate (daddy) live in Colorado. Will is going to visit them next week and I can't go :( so I'm very excited to see more pics of her, plus I think it is so cute to see Will with babies...melts my heart.

On a second note, last summer I read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and I recently found out that they will be turning it into a movie, coming out this October. I can't wait!
If you have not read this book, then I HIGHLY recommend reading it. If you enjoy mystery and thriller books then this one is for you. I couldn't put this book down. This author is amazing. She has other books out that are the same genre, which I have read (Sharp Objects). Not only is the book going to be made into a movie, but it will be staring Ben Affleck.

Last thing, I always love reading posts about random facts on people. So, I've decided to do the same.

10 Facts about me:
1. I love animals. Since I was little I've always had an animal.
2. I am a straight B and C student. I didn't really make that many A's in school, except college.
3. I really want to get a job as either a Kinder, 1st, or 2nd grade teacher.
4. I want to buy Maddie a kitten next year for Christmas (shhhh, don't tell Will)
5. I could sleep in bed all day.
6. My favorite show is The Golden Girls.
7. I never wear tennis shoes.
8. I think I'm a hypochondriac.
9. I drink water non-stop throughout the day, it is a (good) habit.
10. I am addicted to coffee

Basketball/Park

As we all know I am the girlfriend of a basketball coach. Will is an assistant varsity basketball coach for Austin High. He began this journey last year and every since has been 100% dedicated and loyal. Austin High's logo is "Loyal Forever" and Will has definitely followed through with it. Not only is he committed, I am as well. I've always had a thing for basketball. I was never able to play it (wasn't ever good), but I have always loved shooting around. When I was younger one of my Christmas presents was a basketball goal. BEST GIFT EVER! I would spend HOURS just shooting baskets. So, of course when I met Will it was a major turn on to me that he was involved with sports, especially basketball. For the past two years I have been to every game that I was able to make. School kind of got in the way last year, but this year I've been to every game. The varsity team at Austin High is an unbelievable group of talented young men. I love going to watch them play. Not only are they a great team, coached by amazing coaches, but they know how to play and how to put on a show. I'm proud to say that I am the girlfriend (hopefully soon to be wife) of their assistant coach and always look forward to watching them play while supporting them through their journey as well as coach Potthoff's. With that being said here a few photos to show my support.

Mascot: Runnin' Maroon

Not their mascot, but a cute girl version!

On the other hand, we took Maddie and Carlton to a near by school and let them run around and play. We currently live in an apartment right now, so they don't get much running time. On nice days, like today, I like taking them out so they can run wild! I think they love it too. Here are a few pictures from today.

My big boy taking a rest after running around.

Baby girl resting as well!

My fur kids

My little circus performer! Look at those ears! GO MADDIE!

Fat boy!!

Look at those lips!!!

Sweet baby boy!

After our day at the park Maddie and Carl were exhausted, to say the least!

Last thing I swear! I finally found out where I am going to be student teaching and what grade! I will be at Union Hill Elementary student teaching in a 3rd grade class. Last semester, during my internship I was in a 4th grade classroom. I am used to being with little kids (3-5 years old) so the older ones were definitely a change. Needless to say, it was very fun. I learned a lot from the older ones and enjoyed every minute of it. I wanted to continue this experience with the older ones, even though my heart belongs to little kiddos, so I asked to be placed with either 3rd or 5th grade. I can't wait to begin this journey and be in the classroom just as much as their teacher. 2014 is going to bring many changes and new adventures and I can't wait! With that being said here is a sweet little quote I found on Pinterest.

Cheers to student teaching!

DIY Projects

The other day my crafty nerve began to flare so I spent all day just doing DIY crafts. I'm not sure why I did this, maybe because Will was out of town for basketball and my sister was working all day. I spend a lot of time at home just me and the dogs and I get REALLY bored! Here are the things that I made. Some were easy and some had me saying to myself, "Why the heck am I doing this?"

I love this wreath. It is currently hanging above our fireplace. It was super easy to make!

I've had this mirror for while and it was brown and ugly. So, I decided to paint it. It turned out cute and gives our apartment a little spicing up.

I like this wreath as well (yes, I fixed the left side), but it was a pain for me to get started. I couldn't figure out how to stuff the burlap in and out of the wire and get it to stay. I love the colors. Hopefully it lasts awhile. It is currently hanging up above our TV in our room. Good spot.

Hello, "why the heck am I doing this?" I've seen these all over Pinterest and I love them. I think they're so cute, but not cute to make. Cutting a hole on the top of the mason jar lid and cutting the soap pumper thing was a pain in my butt. I almost lost a finger. There is an easier way to do it, but I failed to try it. Next time, I'll have to re-think the way I make it.

This used to be a dry erase calendar from Target, but the part that supports it to the wall came off and I haven't been able to hang it up. Plus, I never really used the calendar. So, I spray painted it with chalk board spray paint and attempted to paint chevron stripes on the side. It turned out pretty cute and it is hanging up in a good spot in our kitchen. It is also magnetic!

This was just a little easy project. I had a few empty coffee cans so I just took one and wrapped it in twine.

These little glass vases I've had forever and they were just so ugly and plain. I used acrylic paint and painted the inside. I don't think you're suppose to use acrylic paint, but that's all I had. They turned out okay. The purple one has a candle in it with pinecones, while the other one is waiting to get flowers put in it.

Christmas

Christmas was good this year. Usually it is chaotic trying to find presents for everyone, what to cook, blah blah blah. This year was calm & easy. No presents. Little family and lots of booze. Every year we go to my aunts house for Christmas and my grandparents come over and we all eat and hang out. This year my sister didn't come :( we were all pretty sad. I didn't take many pictures. Oh well. Here are a few..
This guy, of course.
My mother!
These are my beautiful cousins Chase and Kristen. They've grown up to be such sweet, respectful young adults. We can only hope our children grow up like this.

Anyways, it was nice to get away for a little bit but I'm always ready to get back home to good ole Austin. Oh and my dog is sweetier than yours! Jk, but no really.

Last night we watched the new movie "The Prisoners" with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gill-n-hall (spelling?). The movie was really good. I had been wanting to see it. My sister recommended it so we finally watched it. The ending is..different. Some viewers might like it, but some won't. I was okay with the ending, but if you're anything like my mom then you want answers aka you won't be happy with the ending. I still recommend that you see it. Here is what it looks like.
Hmmm let's see what else has been on my mind??? Oh, starting in January I will begin student teaching. I will be in a classroom all day everyday just like the teacher minus the paycheck. Ridiculous, I know. It's for only a few months though. I've been patiently waiting to find out which school I will be at, my student teacher, and what grade I will be in. I can't wait to begin and get back in the classroom, I belong there. This will be the last thing I do before I graduate, then I can get a job. It is about time!
I love Madea!

Houston

Well, Will and I plus our two pups made it to Houston. It only took us sitting in the car for 5 hours to finally reach our destination. This was pretty much my view all through Houston...(minus the 25 years from when this picture was taken)

I realized today that having two dogs is equivalent to having two kids. The dogs require packing, carrying, and taking more stuff then both Will and I together.
1. 2 kennels
2. Bucket of dog food
3. 2 dog beds
3. Blankets (of course for my Maddie girl)
4. Leashes
5. 2 sets of water/food bowels

I'm sure there is more, but it's all worth it when they're snuggled up being angels.
Maddie passed out after playing with her baby.
Carlton laying next to my mom.

Tomorrow, our plans are to pick up my mom's dog from my paw paws, go to the grocery store, cook food for Christmas Day, and hang out. I hope to see my besties tomorrow. I will try to remember to take pictures.

Now, I'd like to list a few things that I enjoyed from today.
I love these yummy bad boys!
My mom is such a good gardener. I couldn't even keep a sucluent plant alive and apparently you don't need to water them often! Anyways, she has a few Aloe Vera plants that are good looking. According to Will, I can't keep that alive either. This isn't her actual plant, but I'd love to have one like this.
For dinner, we ate Pizza Hut. We each had different items. I had the buffalo wings and they were pretty good!
I was only allowed to listen to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You" once on our way to Houston. I like to think my voice sounds like hers, but in reality I've been told my singing voice sounds like a cat in heat. Whatever.

We stopped at the Buc-ee's in Waller. WOW! Talk about awesome. Their sausage sandwiches were good, but I would've like a little less BBQ sauce. Will really wanted to buy a David Crockett hat, too bad they didn't have a size Medium.
And of course the highlight of my day and everyday is Will, Maddie, and Carl.

Until tomorrow...

Pinterest Topic

So, I love the idea of having a blog. I do not like the idea of not having anything to write about. I found many pins on Pinterest about writing prompts for bloggers. One prompt that caught my attention...

5. Who doesn't love Pinterest? I've done a few posts about things that I've pinned, and it's so much fun! Share your favorite pins from the week or for a specific topic (like nursery inspiration, recipesChristmas gift ideas...)

Here we go! Here a few pins that I have pinned over the past for days. My favorite categories are humor, humor, humor, beauty, engagement rings, and all of the above.

I would love to have this for my pups! This would definitely help me with the back pain of picking up two boxers to put in the bath tub, except of the simple fact that THEY WON'T STAY IN IT! my dogs hate taking a bath. As much as I love this idea and would love for my dogs to sit so perfectly still like this cute brown pup in the picture, they won't. I guess I will just stick to my bath tub.

This is a really cute idea for a married couple. If/when I ever get married I'd like to make one of these. I don't think that I'll ever get around to it because I'm not a crafty person, but I'd like to have it :)

I love being tan and even more sparkly. I pinned this because it makes the girl in the picture look sexy! I hope to get my hands on some of this sexy cream some time.

My new obsession in jewelry is rose gold. I have a pair of Michael Kors earring that are rose gold and I LOVE them! Now, if I can only somehow get this ring on my ring finger then I'll be a happy girl. Until then...I'll keep looking.

I pinned this quote because I think of myself when reading it. My dance styles do range from the average white dad at a barbecue to a stripper whose rent is due. Something about Juvenile's "Back That Ass Up" makes me want to twerk like Miley Cyrus. I just can't help it..born and raised in Houston.

My best friend, Jessika, recently got engaged and I am so very happy for her! I've waited so long for her and her fiancĂ© to get engaged, so like any bridesmaid I have begun to re-pin bachelorette party ideas. So, the plan is to have her party in New Orleans (scary, I know) and I really want to partake in this photo after the night we get hammered. I know it'll be a classic photo.

Self explanatory. Especially after drinking coffee.

I laid in bed one night drooling over Tacori engagement rings. They have AMAZING rings that every girl can only dream of. Again, this is proof of my new obsession of rose gold. ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOUUUUUUUUUU!

I am currently in Ariel's situation. I've already signed off for my student loans, now comes the worse part..paying them off. I'm scared to see this day.

And last, but not least..

Even though I am not in a marriage right now, I still think that some of these rules (if not all) still apply in a dating relationship. I like to think that I take on the role of numbers 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9.

# 3: I hate fighting with my significant other. There's nothing worse than fighting with the one you love and being angry with one another. If Will thinks he's is right (whether or not he is) I let it be. No fight is ever worth the pain.
# 5: I don't ever talk about my past with the one I'm with. One, because I don't think that he wants to hear about it and Two, well I don't things that happened in the past are mistakes. You live and you learn, right?!
# 7: I've been told this by several people. It really weighs on you sleeping next to someone you are mad at. If anyone has ever given me good advice, this is it. Work it out before you go to sleep, even if it takes you all night. It's worth it.
# 8: I'll admit, I haven't done this as often as when Will and I first got together. When him and I first started dating I would constantly text him sweet things. I always try to remind myself not to move out of the "honeymoon" stage too fast. I think that is where relationships start to crumble, because you begin to settle. I find myself looking over at Will and telling him how much I love him and how cute I think he is. I can see that this makes him happy. Therefor, I am happy too .
# 9: I was in a relationship once where ego was a huge thing. That didn't get me far. And I will never forget that he told me "Caitlin, drop your ego. Sometimes you have to say sorry even if you didn't do anything". This stuck with me. Now, I'll say sorry to anything as long as I am not fighting with Will and him and I are both happy. I wouldn't want to lose someone over something that can easily be fixed. More good advice that I was given.

Well, it was fun blogging today. I will be traveling to Houston tomorrow for the Holidays. I like to think that I will take lots of pictures, but I probably won't. Until next time..
